UK RGGO - Waste (uncertified, subsidised) - 2023

This assessment represents the price of the transfer of subsidised waste-based biomethane Renewable Gas Guarantees of Origin (RGGOs) produced in the UK in 2023 under the Green Gas Certification Scheme (GGCS). The assessment reflects RGGOs that are not certified by a RED-compliant scheme and with a carbon intensity of between 0 gCO2e/MJ and 25 gCO2e/MJ. Bids, offers and deals must represent trade for a minimum of one GWh. Uncertified RGGOs have not had their feedstocks, origin, production process and carbon intensity verified by a national or EU-recognised certification scheme and are usually cheaper than certified RGGOs. Subsidised RGGOs have received state support for their production and so are typically cheaper than unsubsidised RGGOs, but may face limitations in cross-border trade and in their use to meet national transport renewable energy and emission reduction compliance targets.
